Affordable and Clean Energy for Orang Asli Pucur

Congratulations to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FKE) Team, UTM led by Dr. Zulkarnain Noorden, Dr. Jasrul Jamani, Dr. Madihah Md Rasid and Dr. Maherah Hussin for being crowned the Runner-up in the Off-Grid (Power) Category at the ASEAB Energy Awards 2024 organized by the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) through the Centralized Isolated Photovoltaic Solar System Design Project and Knowledge Transfer Program in Kampung Orang Asli (KOA) Pucur, Johor.

Photovoltaic solar panel system in KOA Pucur has been installed in 2017, sponsored by corporate responsibility fund of Bank Islam.

In 2021 and 2022, the village has been affected by flood. It has damage part of the solar panel.

For that, in Dec 2022, UTM team re-visit the site and proposed Sadaqa House to fund the cost of overhaul, upgrading and installation of distribution wiring to all 22 home and 1 treatment hall in the village.

The total cost involved that is funded by Sadaqa House is RM97,000.

Continue to support solar projects in collaboration with UTM to help remote communities in need.
